College and Professional Bio-Mechanics Consultant, President
Ryan Johansen played college baseball at the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg. He has coached college baseball with Aurora University when they were ranked 23rd in the nation, as well as Judson University when they were ranked 16th in the nation. He has coached travel programs such as Top Tier Baseball LLC. based out of Chicago that has put over 400 players in college programs across the country. He has worked with Prep Baseball Report, and most recently, was a Head baseball Recruiting Coach at NCSA (National Collegiate Scouting Association) where he worked with over 1500 athletes and their families in finding the right fit for college baseball. He is the founder of Johansen Baseball Inc., Illinois Lions, a High School faith based travel team and currently works on the Chicago White Sox Player Development Staff as the Asst. Hitting Coordinator.
In High School Nate was an All-Conference, and All-Area Shortstop at Streamwood High School as a Junior and Senior. From their he received an athletic scholarship to play at Elgin Community College. He joined Johansen Baseball in 2016 and plays a pivotal role in our player development, specifically as a hitting coach. He does a great job reaching players of all ages and keeping the energy levels in our facility up at all times. He also currently serves as part of the Chicago White Sox Player Development Staff as a Quality Control Coach
Pitching Coordinator/VP of Operations
Jordan played college baseball, and was a starting pitcher at Marian University in Fond du Lac, WI for 4 years. In 2019 Jordan was voted First Team All-Conference in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference, and he spent two summers in the Northwoods League, and one summer in the Prospect League. He's been working with pitchers privately and at training facilities for three years. He is a Head Coach with the Illinois Indians, managing one of their 16u college exposure teams. He takes a modern approach using a constraint led model, and tools that allow him to do pitch design with our athletes, as well as manage velocity programs for our pitchers and position players. Jordan also currently serves as the Harper Community College Pitching Coach, and during the summer leads the Lafayette Aviators, pitching staff in the Prospect League.
Shawn Sherman (Square One System, "SQ1")
Strength and Conditioning Coordinator
Shawn earned his Exercise and Sport Science degree from Penn State University and operates a private practice in Western Springs, Illinois. Over the years, Shawn has held numerous industry certifications and therefore understands what and how the conventionalists think and believe. Over the past 22 years, his understanding of movement has evolved from that of an apprentice level to a level of mastery by continually seeking answers to his questions. Because he now intimately and thoroughly understands the most basic components of movement, he brings an unparalleled perspective to the table. Not only does he consistently deliver amazing results to his customers, he teaches his students to be able to do the same. Shawn has previously worked for the Chicago Cubs as well as individual professional baseball players over the year and brings a unique perspective with his system to baseball players.
Jake played college baseball at Cornerstone University where he played middle infield. He's previously coached at the High School level at Northpointe Christian School in MI. He started at Johansen Baseball Inc. as an intern in late 2018 after working with Fisk Performance based out of Byron Center MI. In 2019 he coached with the Illinois Lions travel program, and will continue in 2020 during their merge with the Illinois Indians Organization.
Director of Data Communications
Ryan has worked with Collegiate and Major League players for the past four and a half years. Most recently with the Chicago White Sox Player Development team. Throughout his time with the White Sox, Ryan worked at multiple affiliated levels with tasks centered on the use of technology and video for the improvement of all players. Most recently helping the organization run bio-mechanical assessments collating information together and helping create a usable workflow. Other tasks included assisting coaches in day to day situations such as running drills. His role at Johansen Baseball will consist of being hands on with hitters based on the individual plans for each player, while communicating advanced information simply to athletes of all ages, as well as our staff when needed.
Exercise Science Intern
Kyle played baseball at Mendota High School before going on to pitch at Illinois Valley Community College. He is currently a senior at Northern Illinois University where he is studying Kinesiology with an emphasis in sports performance. He helps with our assessments, our youth athletes, teams, and weight room.
Hitting Coach/Floor Trainer
Megan will be working with Baseball AND Softball players at JB. She played four years of Division 1 softball at Bradley University where she graduated with a psychology degree. In High School she was 4x First Team All-Conference, and First Team All-Area Selection at Crystal Lake Central High School.
Weight Room Supervisor/Minister of Culture 2.0
AJ is studying exercise science at Aurora University where he also starts on the baseball team.
Delani (Vest) Johansen
In 2009 and 2010 Delani made the All-Area team for Kaneland HS. In 2012 she was the Kane County Player of the year, and All-Area Captain and she also received an athletic scholarship to play softball at Nothern Illinois University as a 2B and Triple Threat hitter. In 2014 she was she an All American Scholar Athlete, and most recently was an Asst. Coach for the Waubonsee Community College softball team. She also works for Blast Motion Inc. with their softball channel. She's worked with teams such as Team USA, along with Division One college programs across the country.
